Optimizing Substrate Gradation for Constructed Wetland Treating Domestic Wastewater

Indoor leaching column experiments were done to investigate the effect of gradation of substrate for constructed wetland used to treat sewage. Brown soil,fly ash,cinder and hollow bricks were used as filtering media with different proportions which resulted in optimized pollutants removal of COD,TN,NH4+-N as well as TP. It was concluded that a volume ratio of 3: 1: 1 of fly ash,cinder,and hollow bricks respectively mixed was suitable for constructed wetland treating domestic wastewater according to the experimental result and the long-term operation need.
