Ecological Suitability Analysis of Land for Construction in Strategic Environmental Assessment

Evaluation factors including geology and sensitive spots were selected to discuss the establishment process of criteria based on state,local or industrial environmental standards,background data and analogy criteria.Polygons formed by overlaying factors were used as the smallest evaluation unit to avoid the shortcoming of inconsistency between grids and distribution of all factors.Ecological suitability of each polygon for construction was evaluated comprehensively by adding all factors with weights calculated by analytic hierarchy process(AHP).Regional planning of Shunyi District of Beijing was taken as an example,the layout suitability in urban planning was evaluated to protect the ecological system by overlaying and comparing the result of suitability analysis with regional planning of land for construction.Evaluation of the ecological suitability based on the above mentioned criteria has the immediate significance in strategic environmental assessment(SEA).
