Regime Shift of Acid Rain Intensity in Area of Shanghai

At present acid rain has aroused a great concern of people,but little previous research has been completed on the regime shift of acid rain intensity.Based on pH,minimum pH and frequency of acid rain in area of Shanghai,from 1991 to 2006,the acid rain intensity regime shifts were studied by adopting STARS(sequential t-test analysis of regime shifts).During 1991~2006,there were 3 regimes and two shifts of pH and minimum pH of acid rain in area of Shanghai.Before the regime shift in 1995,the pH and minimum pH of acid rain were relatively low and the intensity was comparatively strong.After the shift in 1995,the pH increased and the intensity decreased.Followed by another regime shifts in 2002 and 2003 for the pH and minimum pH of acid rain,respectively,the pH decreased again and the acid rain intensity increased.There were two regimes of the acid rain frequency,one shift happened in 2004.Before the shift,the acid rain frequency was relatively low(17% on average);after that,it was relatively high(43%).The regime shift indices(RSI) of acid rain intensity in the area of Shanghai were 0.834、0.968、0.568 and 1.682 in 1995,2002,2003 and 2004,accordingly.
