Decomposition of Volatile Organic Compounds by Non-thermal Plasma-Catalyst Hybrid Technology

Non-thermal plasma-catalyst hybrid technology is an important method for treating large flow waste gas containing low concentrated volatile organic compounds,which can increase pollutants removal efficiency,inhibit byproducts formation and save consumption.Advances in decomposition of volatile organic compounds by the technology were reviewed,including plasma-catalyst hybrid reactors and effects of catalysts and background gas.In order to study the synergetic mechanism of non-thermal plasma combining with catalysts,the interaction between plasma and catalysts and contribution of optical radiation were discussed.The active species formed by decomposition of ozone on surface of catalysts also play an important role in synergetic effect.Further development of the technology was proposed.
