Overview of Application of Laccase in Organic Solvent Systems

XIE Hui-fang(College of Chemical Engineering,Nanjing Forestry University,Nanjing 210037,China)  
Research achievements since the year 2000 regarding application of laccase to the organic solvent system are reviewed.The laccase which encompasses various fungal and plant laccases was used in different organic solvent systems including neat organic solvents,organic co-solvent system,hydro-organic biphasic system,reversed micelles,laccase/surfactant complex organic system and the ternary system formed by hydrocarbon/short-chain-alcohol/water.Factors and problems to be concerned when building laccase enzymatic reaction in organic media are discussed,and prospective development of the application of laccae to organic solvents are also outlined.
