The relationship between the resistance of Castanea henryi against Dryocosmus kuriphilus and phenylalanine ammonia-lyase

The relationship between the resistance of Castanea henryi against Dryocosmus kuriphilus and the activity of phenylalanine ammonia-lyase(PAL) was studied by determining the activity of PAL in the leaves of different resistant varieties of C.henryi under different damage conditions.It was indicated that there was no difference in the PAL activity between resistan varieties and susceptible ones when all varieties were not harmed by D.kuriphilus,meanwhile the PAL activity of resistan varieties increased as induced by the harm of D.kuriphilus,but the PAL activity of susceptible varieties did not response to the harm.
