Effect of Magnesium on Accumulation and Transportof Sugar, Starch in Rice

The results of hydroponic experiment showed that magnesium deficiency decreased chlorophyll contents and net photosynthetic rates at stages.At tilling stase, magnesium application increased sugar and starch contents in main stalk and tiller. At filling stase, magnesium stimulate transport of carbohydrate from stalk to ear. Fertilization of magnesium enhanced the number of effective panicles, the percentase of full grains and the weight of thousand grains, significantly increased the grain yield.
