Seasonal change of the net photosynthesis rate, chlorophyll content and specific weight of leaf of sugarcane and their relationships

The seasonal change of the net photosynthesis rates and chlorophyll contents and specific weight of leaf of 8 sugarcane varieties has been compared respectively. Experimental results showed that the tendency of the change which was increasing from seedling stage to elongate stage and obtaining maximum at elongate stage and then decreasing was different among varieties. The correlation between net photosynthesis rates and chlorophyll contents in different varieties or at different development stages of one variety was significantly positive, and so was the correlation between net photosynthesis rates and specific weight of leaf at different development stages of one variety. According to further fluorescence kinetic analysis, the higher the efficiency of primary conversion of light energy of PSⅡ (F v/F m) and potential activity of PSⅡ(F v/F o) and the efficiency of photo quanta conversion (R F d =F d/F s) were, the higher the net photosynthesis rate of the variety was.
