Studies on the yield and photosynthetic traits of sweet corn sowed at different dates

The photosynthetic traits, including photosynthetic rate (Pn),transpiration rates (Tr) and stomatal conductance (Gs), were analyzed during the growth period of sweet corn ( Zea may L.Sauharata) in different sowing dates. The results indicated that Pn increased during the 35th-60th days but decreased gradually after the 60th day. The Tr at later stage was higher. The maximum value of stomatal conductance was at middle stage. The results also showed that the earlier sowing was advantageous to increase photosynthesis and its accumulation of assimilation products. The relationship between sowing dates and yield was significant. In this paper the regularity of dynamic changes of some photosynthetic traits in the growth period of sweet corn was detected.
