Effects of VAM and Rhizobia on growth and nitrogen fixation of wing bean

ZHENG Wei\|wen,SONG Ya\|na (Biotechnology Center, Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Fuzhou 35003,China)
Vesicular Arbuscular Mycorriza (VAM) fungal strain Glomus mosseae was tested for efficiency and compatibility in promoting growth of wing bean ( Psophocarpus tetragonglobua) in association with Rhizobium. Mycorrhizal inoculation increased number of nodules, fresh weight of nodules, nitrogenase activities. The inoculated plants showed a significant increase in their biomass and phosphorus contents of the roots as well. Inoculation of the plants with four different Rhizobium strains enhanced growth and biomass compared with non\|inoculation control. The results confirmed the importance of studying the dual inoculation with VAM and diazotrophicus for improving growth of plants.
