Investigation on the Concentrations of Arsenic,Copper and Zinc from Swine Farms Soils in Fujian Province

Using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(ICP-MS),50 soils samples were collected from 50 different areas swine farms in Fujian province,which were measured the concentration of arsenic(As),copper(Cu) and zinc(Zn).The results showed that,the average concentration of arsenic in 50 samples was 6.55 mg·kg-1,none of them is above the standard level(30 mg·kg-1).Meanwhile,the average concentration of cooper was 90.67 mg·kg-1,but there were 19 samples were above the standard level(100 mg·kg-1) and the over standard rate is 38%.The average concentration of zinc was 311.67 mg·kg-1,but there were 14 samples were above the standard level(400 mg·kg-1) and the over standard rate is 28%.Among them the most severe contamination area was Nanping,the over standard rate for Cu and Zn is 66.67% and 44.44% respectively.The results conclude that with the local standard of Fujian Province(DB 35/562-2008),the concentration of arsenic in swine farms was under controlled,but we must noticed that the concentration of cooper and zinc were much higher than standard,which may cause environmental pollution and ecological damage.This result suggesting that we should strengthen the detection and monitor for copper and zinc in swine feed and veterinary formulations,and take the road of resource saving and environment-friendly farming.
