Study on Adsorption of Cr~(6+) in Wastewater by Acid-treatment Palygorskite Clays and Its Application

The experiment has been done for adsorption of Cr6+ by acid-treatment palygorskite. The result shows that the adsorption is affected by amount of adsorbent and aqueous pH. The adsorption curve of Cr6+ by acid-treatment palygorskite conforms with Langmuir equation or Freundlich equation, and that by original palygorskite conforms with Freundlich equation. Adsorption affi nity of acid-treatment palygorskite is stronger than that of original palygorskite. And acid-treatment palygorskite can be used in treating electric plating wastewater, and the indexes after adsorption have met the requirement of National Standard of Wastewater Discharge.
