Refi nement and Application of Glass Tail-sand

The clay and organic matter as well as dip-dye iron imputity existing in glass tail-sand,which average particla size is 87.3μm,can be removed effectively by ultrasonic washing process,magmetic separation and acidifi cation method.The results show that when the sample weights 300.0g,65.8%(at the quality ratio) of the imputity can be removed by ultrasonic washing process,13.9% of the imputity can be removed by magmetic separation method,and 3.1% of the imputity mainly contains hematite,limonite,ilmenite and goethite can be removed by acidifi cation method.In this way,the output is 88.3%,and the brightness is among 81.1~85.5.After refi ning the tail-sand,the main components is as follows: SiO2,99.87% ~99.89%;Al2O3,0.03% ~0.25%;Fe2O3,0.015% ~0.03%.The prepared sample can be widly used in the industrial fi eld such as silica brick,silica iron,silica aluminium,electro-porcelain,daily ceramic,glassware and molding sand,etc.,which is helpful to improve the recycling value of the glass tail-sand,meanwhile,it plays a certain role in environmental protection.
