Studies on Clay-chitosan Compound Adsorbent for Adsorptive Action of Hexavalent Chromium

A novel compound adsorbent of combinations chitosan and clay was synthesized and applied to adsorb chromium(Ⅵ).The results showed that the compound adsorbent had better performance for chromium(Ⅵ) ion.Compared with single chitosan or clay,the compound adsorbent for chromium(Ⅵ) has the advantage of short adsorption time,high adsorption capacities.The optimal conditions for removal chromium were that the ratio of chitosan/clay was 0.04,pH was 4~6,the concentration of chromium(Ⅵ) in wastewater was less than 10 mg/L,the adsorption time was about 40 minutes,the adsorbent dosage was 8.0 g/L.
