Voltammetric Behavior of Dopamine at Poly (Congo Red) Modified Electrode and its Determination

Objective To study the voltammetric behavior of dopamine at poly(congo red) modified electrode and establish a novel method for the determination of dopamine. Methods The poly(congo red) modified glassy carbon electrode was prepared by cyclic voltammetry. The electrochemical behavior and content determination of dopamine using this modified electrode were studied by cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry. Results The poly(congo red) modified electrode shows excellent electrocatalysis characteristics for dopamine. In pH 3.0 phosphate buffer solution, the relationship between oxidation peak current and the concentration of dopamine is linear in the range of 5×10 -6~1.25×10 -4 mol/L. The detection limit has been estimated as 2×10 -6 mol/L. Conclusion The interference of ascorbic acid could be efficiently eliminated by the poly(congo red) modified electrode. And this method can be used for the determination of dopamine in real sample.
