The Flurimetric Determination of Aloe-emodin and Aloin in Aloe Capsules

Objective The flurimetric determination of aloe-emodin and aloin in aloe capsules was described. Methods In the presence of pH 5.6 HAc-NaAc buffer and SDS surfactant, excitation and emission maximal of aloe-emodin were at 460 nm and 550 nm(λex/λem=460/550 nm). Aloin in this system do not emit fluorescence. In the presence of pH 5.6~9.2 NaOH-Na_2B_4O_7 buffer, aloin reacts with borax, the system fluorescence intensity was 10 times that of origin, λ_ ex/λ_ em=387/583 nm. Results The linear range of aloe-emodin was 1.0×10 -6~2.5×10 -5 mol/L in 460/550 nm and aloin was 1.0×10 -6~2.0×10 -5 mol/L in 387/583 nm. Its detection limit was 2×10 -8 mol/L in aloe-emodin and 1×10 -8 mol/L in aloin. Conclusion This method is sensitive, repetitive and simple. It can be applied to the determination of aloe-emodin and aloin in aloe capsules.
