Soberness and Blankness: On the Dual Ideological Puzzlement of Expressional Subjects of Intellectuals and Farmers

SONG Jian-hua(Literature College, Hunan Normal University, Changsha, Hunan 410082, China)
The rapid emergence and broad popularization of philosophy about class struggle are an inevitable outcome of the extensive promulgation of Marxist revolutionary ideology; but doubtlessly it is the revolutionized intellectuals that enlightened the countrymen to start the proletarian revolution. From the cultural enlightenment during the May the Fourth Campaign to the ideological enlightenment during the period of Leftist Association, the writers among the intellectuals were always the guides of the times who held the reins over modern Chinese revolution. However, with the deepening of proletarian revolution, positional change began to take place in the social relations between intellectuals and masses: the former enlighteners now became the enlightened while the former enlightened became the enlighteners. This historical interchange of social roles exerted profound influences on the development of Chinese literature.
