Powder forging(PF)is a near net forming technology used to manufacture(PM)parts with high density and low cost.This paper summarized the development of PF,discussed the basic principle and features of PF and described some research and applications of the PF.particularly in the fabrication of connecting rods,gears,bearing rings and aluminum-alloy pistons.It points out that PF has special advantages in forming high density and high performance PM parts and can realize once forge forming for complex shape parts.So its application had prosperous development due to its low cost and high efficiency.Meanwhile,the current deficiencies and future development directions of PF are also pointed out.
