A study on the relationship between the octanol/water partition coefficient and transdermal speed constant of sinomenine

Objective: To study on the relationship between the octanol/water partition coefficient and transdermal speed constant of sinomenine.Methods:The octanol/water partition coefficient of sinomenine is determined with HPLC method. Based upon the pH partition principle,different octanol/water partition coefficient were obtained and the relationship between octanol/water partition coefficient and transdermal speed constant was studied. Results: The relationship between octanlo-water partition coefficients and transdermal speed constants follows a linear relationship,whose equation is Y=0.2444X+5.4864,r=0.98.Conclusions: within the range between pH 4~10,there is a good linear relationship between the octanol-water partition coeffcients and transdermal speed constants.
