WANG Hui-rong Nankai University Institute of Japanese Studies Tianjin 300071 China
With the prospering of Confucianism and the establishment and improvement of the feudal family system, the Japanese lesson books for women have gained extensive development and popularization in modern Japan under the influence of the Chinese lesson books for women. It is one of the most distinct characteristics of the Japanese lesson books to absorb and use for reference the Confucian view of women such as the predominance of men over women. However,it is not uncritical use for reference, but drawing lessons selectively according to the social state in Japan. To probe into the Confucian view of women reflected among them is favorable for us to grasp the existing state of Japanese women at that time and its impact on the social status of Japanese women in contemporary times.
