WANG Yi-huan1 ZHANG Ya-juan2(College of Humanities and Development at the China Agricultural University,Beijing 100193,China)
This paper discusses the rise of "capable women" in the feminization of agriculture as an aspect of social changes in rural areas.By examining the current situations of the "capable women",the paper classifies them into women with political, economic, cultural and multiple capabilities. The paper also analyzes the implications of the rise of women with different and multiple capabilities for the development of rural communities.Research findings indicate that these women's contributions to community development may potentially be hampered by cultural and social conditions, dominant discourse, and constraints of techniques, policies and regulations. The paper makes recommendations based on the analysis of the constraints.
