Study on the correlativity of head character with agronomic character of quality grain rice

The correlation of head character of the Guihuaxiang strain and other three cultivars of quality grain rice with their agronomic character was studied in the paper.The results indicated that the number of effective panicles had a significant positive correlation with the filled grains per panicle. The number of effective panicles, the spikelets per panicle and the filled grains per panicle were found to have a significant positive correlation with the width of the top three function leaves and the leaf area index (LAI) before and after heading. Every head character had a significant negative correlation with the openness of the top three function leaves.The plant height had a significant positive correlation with grain weight,a significant negative correlation with the number of effective panicle per plant and the filled grains per panicle. The result showed that 90 ~100 centimeter height of plant, by adding appropriately width of the top three functional leaves, reducing openness of these three leaves, adding LAI and the width of straw, would be the focal point of plant type improvement of quality rice varieties.
