A vector interpolation method for complex terrai n is discussed in this paper. A new weighted function is suggested here which inc ludes a factor indicating the complexity of the hilly terrain. Comparison of th e wind field interpolated by this method to that interpolated by the 1/r 2 method which only concerns the distance variation is made. It shows that, over a hilly terrain, the suggested method is more effective to exclude the observatio n points disturbing computing estimating results. Since the suggested method mak es a significant improvement in wind speed and direction, it is more suitable fo r wind field estimation over complex terrain than other methods which only conce rns the effect of distance.
