Liquid Phase Alkylation of Benzene With 1-Dodecene Catalyzed by Methanesulfonic Acid

The liquid-phase alkylation of benzene with 1dodecene catalyzed by methanesulfonic acid(MSA)was studied.The effects of the reaction temperatures,reaction times,the molar ratios of benzene with 1-dodocene,and concentration of MSA on the alkylation and repeatability of MSA were investigated in detail.The results show that methanesulfonic acid exhibits good catalytic performance in the liquid-phase alkylation of benzene with 1-dodecene.The deactivation of methanesulfonic acid is induced by strongly and irreversibly adsorbed high boiling compounds amassing in the system during successive catalytic runs.The optimal conditions are as follows: 83 ℃ reaction temperature,1.0 mole ratio of MSA with 1-dodecene,8∶1 molar ratio of benzene with 1-dodecene ,6 h reaction time.Under the above reaction conditions,conversion of 1-dodecene is 100%,selectivity of phenyldodecanes is 98.84%,selectivity of 2-phenyldodecane is 26.65%.
