Atomic Absorption Specrometric Determination of Thallium in Environmental and Biological Samples with a Graphite Furnace Platform

The vaporization of the sample solution containing thallium from the graphite platform treated with Zr or Ta salt in a heated graphite furnace will reduce the interferences resulting from halide, sulfate, phosphate, perchlorate and other matrix materials. The sensitivity obtained with the graphite platform for thallium is improved thirteen fold as compared with that obtained from the tube wall. The method is applicable to the direct determination of trace thallium in human hair and wastewater containing iodide.
