Yang Miyua Guo Xiaowei (North-West Nonferrous Metal Geological Institute)  
By using microwave excited EDL(eleetredeless discharge lamp)(containing GeBr_4) as light source, a hydride generation-nondispersive atomic fluorescence spectrometric metho dhas been developed for the determination of Ge in geochemical samples, 20%H_3PO_4 was selected as the best medium for hydride reaction. The detection limit and rela tive standard deviation(for 0.5μg Ge)are 2.6ng(2σ)and 3.5% respectively. Interferences caused by diverse ions have been carefully examined, only As(10 μg) causes a negative error. This method has been applied to the determination of Ge in geochemical samples. In ordinary samples, no separation is required. The results of some samples(chinese sediment reference samples)obtained by the propo-sed method are in good agreement with the recommended values.
