FLUORESCENCE QUENCHING METHOD FOR THE DETERMINATION OF MICROAMOUNTS OF ANTIMONY WITH 4, 5-DIBROMOPHENYLFLUORONECETYLTRIMETHYLAMMONIUM BROMIDE SYSTEM

A new fluorometrie method for determination of microamounts of antimony(Ⅲ)was established in terms of its quenching effect on the fluorescence of the cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTMAB)-4, 5-dibromophenylfluorone (DBPF) system by forming the complex with the molar ratio of 1: 2(Sb(Ⅲ): DBPF).Measurement was made at 555nm. The calibration curve is rectilinear over the range of O-5.0μg/2S ml. Eight replicate determinations of standard solutions containing 5μg of Sb(Ⅲ) gave a relative standard deviation of 0.64%. The method has been used for determination of Sb in copper alloys.
