APPLICATION OF PLS METHOD IN SIMULTANEOUS SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC DETERMINATION OF TRACE METAL IONS

The highly sensitive chromogenic reaction of a ternary complex of 4-(2-benzothiazolylazo) pyrocatechol (a new chromogenic reagent) with Mo (Ⅳ)-, W(Ⅳ)-diphenyl guanidine and the application of partial least squares method (PLS) in simultaneous spectrophotometric determination of trace Mo and W have been studied. Compared with conjugate grabient method and linear programming method, PLS has shorter operating time, more accurate and reliable results and is especially applicable to processing samples in batches. PLS provides a new method for the spectrophotometer with microprocessor.
