STUDY OF THE BACKGROUND ABSORPTION OF WHOLE BLOOD AND SERUM IN GRAPHITE FURNACE ATOMIC ABSORPTION SPECTROMETRY

The character and source of background absorption of whole blood and serum are studied. The wavelength-dependence of the background of whole blood treated with ashing is quite similar to that obtained from sodium chloride. This shows that non-specific absorption of whole blood arises mainly from sodium chloride. The background absorption VS atomization time is dependent on the atomization temperature and heating rate.
