DETERMINATION OF ARSENIC AND ANTIMONY IN NICKELIRON BASED ALLOY BY EXTRACTION-HYDRIDE GENERATION IN NON-AQUEOUS MEDIUM AND ICP-AES

Hydride generation technique in non-aqueous medium combined with solvent extraction and ICP-AES was studied. As. Sb, Bi could be extracted into methylisobutylketone(MIBK) phase from KI/H_2SO_4 solution, and determined by hydride generation-ICP-AES after mixing the MIBK phase with formic acid.Interference of co-existent elements and some factors influencing extraction and hydride generation were also discussed.The proposed method was applied to the determination of As and Sb in a Ni-Fe based alloy sample.
