Solid-liquid Extraction of Thorium and Scandium Complexes With 1-Phenyl-3-methyl-4-benzoyl-5-pyrazolone and its Analytical Application

The extraction and back-extraction conditions of thorium and scandium with 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-benzoyl-5-pyrazolone (PMBP) in paraffin or ceresin have been studied. The composition of extracted complexes has been determined as Th(PMBP)_4 and Sc(PMBP)_3 by slope analysis. The spectrophotometric determination of Sc in steel has been developed by solid-liquid extraction. The recovery rate of Sc is 99.6% and 100%, respectively.
