Catalytic Photometric Determination of Trace Vanadium With Vanadium-Potassium Chlorate-AcidChrome Dark Blue System

A new catalytic photometric method for the determination of trace vanadium is established based on the oxidation of acid chrome dark blue with potassium chlorate and tartaric acid as activator in sulfuric acid medium. The kinetic conditions are proposed. The sensitivity of the method for the determination of vanadium is 1. 47×10-11 g/ml. The range of determination is 0-9 ng/ml for vanadium. The method is simple and rapid , and has been applied to the determination of trace vanadium in water and foods with satisfactory results.
