Determination of Phenols by Reversed-phase High-performance Liquid Chromatography With Amperometric Detection

The conditions for the determination of phenols by RP-HPLC with amperometric detection were reported. The components of o-aminophenol, phloroglucinol, hydroquinone, resorcinol and pyrocatechol were separated on a shim-pack CLC-C_g column with 5% methanol aqueous solution containing 0.05 mol/L NaH_2PO_4 buffer (pH3. 0) as the mobile phase at a flow-rate of 1.0ml/min, and were detected electrochemically at +1.0V (vs. Ag/ AgC1). The calibration graphs were rectilinear in the range of 0-7 μg/ml with detection limits of ng/ml grade.
