Determination of Trace Nitrophenols by Reversed-phase High Performance Liquid Chromatography With Electrochemical Detection

A method for simultaneous determination of trace nitrophenols in drinking water by RP-HPLC with eIectrochemical detection was reported. Trace nitrophenols were separat- ed on a Perkin-Elmer Nucleosil C8 column with 17/83(V/V) methanol aqueous solution con- taining 0.03 mol/L potassium biphthalate buffer(pH=6.3) as mobile phase and were elec- trochemically detected with glassy carbon electrode at E=+1.2V (vs.Ag/AgCl). The lin- ear range is 0. 2~~100 ng, the correlation coefficient of the linear relationship is0.9997, the detection limits are 0.02~0.09 ng(for 2,4-dinitrophenols=0.22 ng), the relative stan- dard deviation is 2. 74 5%(n = 7) and the recovery is 70%~80% (2-nitrophenols=52%).
