Polarographic and Voltammetric Behaviour of 8 -Azaadenine

The polarographic and voltammetric behaviour of 8-azaadenine in acetic acid-sodi- um acetate buffer medium (pH 5. 2) was studied by various electrochemical techniques. In the buffer, two well-defined linear sweep voltammetric peaks (P1, P2) were yielded. The peak potentials are-1. 08V (Ep1) and -1. 34V (Ep2) (vs. Ag/AgCl),respectively. The ex- perimental results indicate that the first peak (P1) has the characteristics of adsoption and the second peak(P2) is a catalytic hydrogen wave. A linear relationship holds between the peak height and the concentration of 8-azaadenine in the ranges of 1 × 10-8~8 × 10-4 mol/L and can be used for the quantitative analysis of the compound. The mechanism was diss- cussed for the electrode processed.
