A Quantitative Method Applicable to High Resolution Molecular Stratigraphy

The research of high resolution molecular stratigraphy is able to provide plenty of information about global climatic change. To do this research, we have to analyze a great number of samples in quite small amount. The present paper describes a quantitative method for this analysis. The organic lipids tere extracted from the sediments by the suspension. The resultig lipids were derivatized with bis-trimethylsilyltrifluoroacetamide and subject to the analysis of GC/ MS - With adding standards to the blank, the recovery of n-alkane, fatty acid, cholesterol and alcohol is 95. 8%, 92. 3%, 99. 7% and 93. 7% respectively. With adding standards to the mineral matrix, the recovery of n-alkane, fatty acid, cholesterol is 94 . 8%, 90. 8% and 98. 8% respectively. These asults show this procedure is applicable to the qualitative and quantitative analysis of these compounds in the sediments.
