The Advances of Applications in Studying the Structures of Biological Macromolecules by Atomic Force Microscopy

The imaging mode and the development of tip technologies of atomic force microscopy (AFM) are briefly surveyed. A review of the application of AFM in studying the structures of biological macromolecules including deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), proteins, polysaccharides etc. is presented. And the future prospect of AFM in this field is outlooked.
