Resolution of Naphthalene, 1-Naphthol and 2-Naphthol Using the Parallel Factor Algorithm and Three-way Flourescence Technique

The spectra of mixed system of naphthalene, 1 naphthol and 2 naphthol were resolved by using the combination of three way fluorescence technique and the parallel factor (PARAFAC) algorithm. The excitation wavelength was set from 220 to 300 nm with an interval of 2 nm and the emission wavelength varied from 325 to 600 nm with an interval of 5 nm. This method, which has a high convergence rate and is easy to be carried out on computers, can successfully solve the resolving problem caused by spectral overlapping.
