The Electrochemical behavior of a RutheniumⅡ Polypyrindine Complex and Its Electrocatalyis of Nitrite

The electrochemical behavior of [Ru(bipy) 2dppz] 2+ was studied. In hydrochloric acid solution, scanning from 0.5 V to -0.5 V, a couple of redox peaks appeared. The potentials of the peaks were at -0.11 V and -0.08 V(vs.SCE), respectively. It also appeared the adsorptive characteristic on the glassy carbon electrode(GCE) and carbon paste electrode(CPE). For GCE, the maximum adsorptive quantities was 2.37×10 -11 mol/cm 2 and the adsorptive coefficient was 4.89×10 5 L/mol, its adsorption isotherm obeyed Langmuir isotherm. In this solution, it can also electrocatalyze the reduction of nitrite.
