Derivative Spectrophotometric Determination of Neodymium with Neodymium-Enoxacin-Cetyltrimethylammonium Bromide System

The absorption spectrum of neodymium enoxacin (ENX) cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTMAB) system was studied. Experimental results showed that absorption intensity of the Nd ENX complex was increased by adding cationic surfactant (CTMAB). The sensitivity using the second derivative spectra for measurement is 7.21 times higher than that of normal spectra. The optimium conditions and interferences for the determination of Nd were investigated. The calibration curve was linear in the range of 1.2×10 -5 ~2.7×10 4 mol/L. The detection limit was 1.04×10 -5 mol/L ( S/N =2). The method has been successfully used for the determination of Nd in mixed rare earth oxides.
