The Preparation and Application of Schiff Base Chitosan Modified Electrode

Schiff base chitosan modified glassy carbon electrode (SBCMGCE) was prepared by the method of covalent-bond reaction. The electrochemical behavior of hydroquinone at the SBCMGCE was studied. The electrode can be used for the determination of trace amounts of hydroquinone with differential pulse voltammetry. The results show that the elctrode has good selectivity and sensitivity for hydroquinone in 0.5 mol/L TRIS supporting electrolytes (pH 3.0). The oxidation peak current of hydroquinone depends linearly on the concentration of hydroquinone in the range 1.0×10 -6~2.0×10 -3 mol/L, and the detection limit is 1.0×10 -7 mol/L. This electrode has been used for determining the hydroquinone in developer and the result is satisfied.
