Catalytic Kinetic Spectrophotometric Determination of Rutin by Potassium Peridate-Butyl Rhodamine B System

A catalytic kinetic spectrophotometric method for the determination of trace rutin was proposed. The method is based on the catalysis of rutin to the discoloring reaction of butyl rhodamine B oxidized by potassium periodate solution. The amounts of reagent, temperature and time of reacton and kinetic parameters were studied in detail. The linear range is 0.02～2.0 mg/L, the detection limit is 1.0×10 -2 mg/L. The method has been applied to determine the trace rutin in pharmacertical preparation.
