The Chromatographic Behavior of Hydroxyanthroquinones from Rheum Palmatum L. on p-tert-Butyl-calix[8]arene-bonded Silica Gel Stationary Phase by High Performance Liquid Chromatography

The chromatographic behavior of five hydroxyanthroquinones, including aloe emodin, emodin, physcion, chrysophanol and rhein from Rheum palmatum L. on a new calix[8]arene bonded silica gel stationary phase (CABS) were studied by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The results show that various interactions occur between the analytes and the calix[8]arene bonded phase besides hydrophobic interaction, which are different from that on octadecyl silica (ODS). The inclusion interaction improves the selectivity of CABS to these compounds.
