Electrochemical Behavior of Uric Acid on Prussian Blue Modified Electrode and Its Application to the Analytical Chemistry

The preparation of prussian blue modified glassy carbon electrode (PB/GCE) and the electrochemical behavior of Uric Acid (UA) on this modified electrode were studied, a novel method was proposed for the determination of UA. In 0.1 mol/L HAc NaAc buffer solution (pH 5.0) with 0.100 mol/L potassium chloride as supporting electrolyte, a sensitive oxidation peak was observed at about 0.470 V, which is corresponding to the electrooxidation of UA. The peak current is well proportional to the concentration of UA over the range from 2.5×10 -6 to 2.0×10 -4 mol/L by square wave voltammetry, with the correlation coefficient of 0.9986. A detection limit of 1.1 × 10 -6 mol/L was achieved. The modified electrode is easy to prepare with good reproducibility and it has been applied to the quantitative determination of UA in human urine.
