A Study on Adsorption Properties of Gold and Silver Cyanide by a Chelate Resin Containing Sulfur and Nitrogen

A chelate resin containing sulfur and nitrogen was used as an adsorbent and ICP AES was applied to study its adsorption properties to gold, silver from cyanide solution. The resin could adsorb not only gold and silver's cyanide but also copper, zinc and irons cyanide. 2% NaCN could completely desorb silver and other nonoble metal ions except gold. A conclusion could be drawn that the adsorption force between resin and gold was much stronger than others. The gold could be desorbed by thiourea sulfuric acid solution. So the gold could be concentrated and separated from silver and other nonoble metals. The resin could be repeatedly used at least 8 times. The mechanism of adsorption and desorption of gold and silver(s cyanide by the resin was discussed.
