Spectrophotometric Determination of Enoxacin Based on Charge Transfer Reaction

The charge-transfer(CT) reaction between enoxacin as the electron donor and alizarin red as the electron acceptor has been studied by spectrophotometric method.The results indicated that in water solution enoxacin can form charge transfer complex with alizarin red,the composition ratio was 1∶2,λmax was at 524 nm,the apparent molar absorptivity of the complex was 6.96×103 L·mol-1·cm-1,the absorbance was linearly related to the concentration of enoxacin in the range of 0~20 mg/L with a detection limit of 0.4 mg/L,the relative standard deviation was 0.25%(n=11).The proposed method has been applied to the determination of enoxacin in tablets and capsules with satisfactory results.The recoveries of enoxacin were 99.4%~100.5%.
