Numerical Simulation of the Influence of Heterogeneous Rock Bridge on the Propagation and Coalescence Mechanism of Cracks

Huang Mingli; Tang Chun'an; Zhu Wancheng (Center for Rockbursts and induced Seismicity Research, Northeastern University, Shenyang, China)  
in the paper, considering of the mechanical behavior and heterogeneity of rock bridges between preexisting echelon cracks in the rock specimen, the characteristics and mechanism of propagation, interaction and coalescence of cracks in the different rock bridge are studied by using RFPA~(2D) (Rock Failure Process Analysis) code newly developed by CRISR, Northeastern University. The simulated results show a good agreement with those of corresponding experiments.
