Alumina matrix ceramic coatings prepared by thermochemical reaction method and study on its corrosion resistance

The protective alumina matrix ceramic coatings are prepared on stainless steel by thermochemical reaction method.Its XRD analysis indicates that the solidified coating could make the new ceramic phase at the temperature 600 ℃,the binding forces of the ceramic coating and the matrix are enhanced.The result of scanning electron microscopy indicates the ceramic coating is dense.Also,there were no obvious boundry between the coating and the matrix.And the binding strength between the coating and the matrix is very high.Immersion corrosion test results show that the ceramic coating significantly improves the corrosion resistance of matrix in various corrosive media.
