Determination of epinephrine in the presence of ascorbic acid using poly (acridine red) modified glassy carbon electrode

JIN Gui-ying~*, ZHANG Yu-zhong and YANG Zhou-sheng (School of Chemistry and Materials Science, Anhui Normal University, Wuhu 241000),  
Poly (acridine red) modified glassy carbon electrode was prepared by electro-polymerization. Epinephrine was studied at the modified electrode by cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry. Epinephrine had three peaks on the modified electrode, one cathodic peak and two anodic peaks. The peak potentials decreased with the increase of solution pH. The anodic peak current was in a linear relationship with epinephrine concentration in the range of 1.0×10~(-6)~1.0×10~(-4) mol/L. The linear regression equation was i_p(10 μA) =1.160+0.4390 c (mol/L), with a correlation coefficient of 0.9981. The detection limit (S/N=3) obtained by differential pulse voltammetry was 1.0×10~(-7) mol/L. The results showed that the modified electrode could diminish the interference of ascorbic acid. The proposed method was applied to the detection of epinephrine in samples. The recovery was in the range of 97.3%~100.3%.
