Electrochemical behavior of dopamine at the caffeic acid modified electrode

The preparation and electrochemical properties of caffeic acid(CFA) modified glassy carbon(GC) electrode were investigated. The electrochemical parameters such as charge transfer coefficient (α) and standard electron transfer rate constant (k_s) between caffeic acid and the GC electrode were estimated. It was shown that the modified electrode exhibited a significant catalytic effect toward the oxidation of dopamine in pH 7.0 phosphate buffer solution. A well-defined redox wave of dopamine (DA) at the modified electrode was observed. The oxidation peak of DA was used for the determination of DA. The linear range of DA was 5.0×10~(-6)~1.0×10~(-4) (mol/L) with the detection limit of 9.0×10~(-7) mol/L.
